Our Founders, Patrick and Chris

Patrick and Chris Templeton began Operation Stitches in 1996 with a passion to make a difference among the disadvantaged families living in Melbourne’s inner-city public housing.

Together, they have an unwavering passion and commitment in helping those in need and believe that investing in our community is the best way to help everyone reach their potential in life.

Over the past 26 years, their work with Operation Stitches has earned the trust and respect of the public housing sector and positively impacted the lives of countless people living in Melbourne’s public housing estates.

Patrick and Chris currently live in Doncaster, Melbourne, and have four children, ten grandchildren, one foster daughter and a foster grandchild.

Our History

1996

Operation Stitches was founded by Patrick and Chris Templeton. As Christians, they believed it was important to do their part to help some of Melbourne’s most disadvantaged living in the public housing estates. With Operation Stitches they aimed to make a difference and bring about a positive community change.

2003

Operation Stitches continued to grow quickly and was able to set up its headquarters in a large warehouse in Richmond. This warehouse, situated next to the Richmond public housing estate, became the base for Operation Stitches’ community outreach programs into six major inner-city public housing estates in Melbourne.

2016>

Operation Stitches relocated their headquarters from Richmond to Collingwood. DFFS provided office and program meeting space at their local community hall located on the Collingwood Social Housing estate. This has allowed Operation Stitches to establish its various community programs & events that support the many disadvantaged children and families who reside there.
